Aqua Falcons Break Records at Trotwood Invitational!
CoEd Varsity SwimmingOn Saturday, December 7th, Team Champ traveled to Trotwood Madison to compete in the Trotwood Invitational. On the Men's side, there were 14 teams competing. On the Women's side, 15 teams were in attendance. Results from the meet: Graham Aqua Falcons: To start things off, the Graham Aqua Falcons 200 Yard Medley Relay team composed of Braden Bost, Joshua Ryman, Caleb Owens, and Sully Uhl completed the feat of breaking the Graham High School record of 2:02.21 that was achieved in 2022 by swimming it in 2:00.38! Boys Varsity FootballThe OHSAA Football Playoffs heat up this Friday as the Graham Falcons (3-7) assemble to go head-to-head against the Greeneview Rams (10-0) in Jamestown. Both teams are ready for a thrilling showdown. While the Falcons face Greeneview (Jamestown) this Friday night, this gritty Falcons team needed key wins down the stretch. What did that look like? A 3-1 record over the final four games, including an inspiring Homecoming victory over the Braves of Shawnee (1-9) and a crucial win over the Northwestern Warriors (6-4). Sophomore Gage Stull (10), the Falcons’ quarterback, will lead the offense Friday after throwing for nearly 850 yards this season and compiling 9 touchdowns thrown. Another Sophomore, Danny Hoke (29) will help solidify the Falcons offensive attack; Hoke comes into postseason play with 605 yards on the ground and a 4.8 Yards Per Carry. Boys/Girls Varsity Cross CountryThe Falcons headed north to participate in the Indian Lake Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, September 28. Battling five other schools on a muddy course laden with over three inches of rain from post-tropical Hurricane Helene, the boys placed fourth out of five scoring teams with a total of 94 points, while the girls finished fifth out of five scoring teams with 119 points. The boys’ top runner was senior Ayden Rudolf; he finished fourth out of 58 runners with a time of 18:42. The other boys to score were junior Jack Bonham (10th place; 19:22), junior Brayden Crooks (scored 25 points; 20:41), sophomore Hunter DeMarco (scored 27 points; 21:04), and senior Tyler Shefbuch (scored 28 points; 21:06). The Falcons were without seniors Braden Bost and Sebastian Bowers, who continue to nurse lingering hip and chest injuries, respectively; freshman Harlan Putterbaugh was also out with a season-ending knee injury. Boys Varsity SoccerOn September 30th, fans gathered for an exhilarating clash between Graham and Kenton Ridge at historic Dallas Stadium. The exciting game, which saw both teams battle back and forth, culminated in a Graham triumph over KR, 2-1. The first half set the tone for the match, showcasing both teams' determination and tactical plays, which led to a 0-0 tie at half and electric atmosphere. As the second half unfolded, Owen Powell emerged as a standout player, scoring the opening goal for Graham with a brilliant strike. His precise shot left the Kenton Ridge goalkeeper with no chance and sent the Graham supporters into a frenzy. Shortly after Powell’s goal, co-senior Breyton Reisinger found an opening in the defense and delivered a powerful shot that rocketed into the net. Girls JV and Varsity GolfThe Lady Falcons won the SW DII Sectional tournament with 399. The Falcons were led by Zoey Merritt with a 79. Riley Donnelly contributed a 102, Kailey Dowty carded a 105, Bayla Moffitt a 112 and Grace Bowers finished with 128. Zoey Merritt was Medalist with 76, Riley Donnelly finished with 100, Kailey Dowty carded a 102. Bayal Moffitt posted a 113, MacKenzie Clark shot a 122 and Grace Bowers finished with a 123. On a humid, mid-90 degree night, both teams knew executing on the little things and taking advantage when the opportunity arose was going to be key in garnering a much-needed week 2 win. After a early 7-0 Mechanisburg lead, the Falcon's defense dug their feet in and Junior Izaiah Smith intercepted the 'Burg's Conley Bogard in the end zone, which swung the momentum back in the Falcon's favor.
